Winnebago History

The story of Winnebago starts in 1958 when the company was founded under the name Modernistic Industries in Forest City, Iowa. The 17-person business produced the Aljo travel trailer for two years before changing its name to Winnebago Industries in 1960.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Winnebago revolutionized the world of RVs. The brand's first motorhome hit the market in 1967; from there, the business went on to produce everything from farm wagons to helicopters. In the 1980s, Winnebago released a slew of exciting RV models.

 

Winnebago in the 1990s and 2000s

In 1991, Winnebago combined the comfort of an RV and the maneuverability of a van with the compact Rialta. As demand grew, the company acquired SunnyBrook RV, Grand Design RV, Chris-Craft, Newmar Corporation, and Barletta. Today, the Winnebago family of brands is one of the most powerful players in the RV and marine industries.
